Boy, you language types from Duke sure use big words (sophistry)<bg>.

My expert observation has noticed that it seems that you just pick up the lines and plop them 7 bars to the right.. At least that what it appears to do when you just sit there and play with it.

I also don't see what it buys you except late entrys and exits.

When you plot the MA, you use "+" 8 or 7 periods you put + 8 in the horizontal shift box.

I made a mistake in my answer (answering too much mail), yes the data point for today is the data point 8 days ago. You can use that as suggested to put a displaced MA into a formula. I have templates reflecting that but mind is slowly going.

Why shift the MAs? to slow them down which may cut down on whipsaws and if they are plotted (MSWIN won't plot past last bar) you would have a stop in place for next 7 periods telling you where to exit. Both a 89TMA and a 8 EMA are very close tracking MAs, you want them to back off, yet you want the MAs to maintain the periods that are based on cycles often present in market. 8 and 89.
