I don't consider Ken Starr "evil". I think he is a man obsessed. I think he has very little judgment or balance, on this issue. I think he has taken a bad statute, the Special Prosecutor act, and pushed it to its absolute worst, most inquisitional, get your target extreme. Unlike most of his predecessors, who sometimes still acted in somewhat objectionable ways. He has far exceeded all of them.

The Attorney General had essential no choice in allowing Starr to expand his investigation to the Lewinsky matter, given the pressures from the Republican Congress. And she did so based upon misleading information form Starr, claiming tie ins to Webb Hubbell though Vernon Jordan, etc.

Starr does not work for the Attorney General. That is why he is called an "independent counsel". Nor was he selected by the Attorney General. TMK, He was selected by a panel of 3 Republican federal judges.

But the thrust of your argument is easy to follow. Protect the right wing republicans and blame everything on the executive branch of government.
