The alternative would be to allow every kook and nutcase to hijack the agenda of public discourse. So instead of discussing the thing we have come here to talk about it we end up debating ridiculous questions like whether or not 'gook' is a rascist term. These kooks - really parasites - get the attention they feed on and anyone with anything intelligent to say about the topic at hand is forced to go elsewhere. It amazes me that Americans are so oblivious to this simple practical matter which is always been a part of public discourse - both in your country and elsewhere - for hundreds of years. Try and send a letter that's full of rascist comments to your local paper and see whether they publish it. I can guarantee you that they won't. Its not censorship its just a common sense practical way to run a newspaper ... or an internet discussion group. If I saw a bum pissing into the flowers at the local mall I'd probably tell a security guard. Maybe you'd also say that I was 'running whining'. To me its simply a straightforward matter of going to the appropriate authority with a complaint about someone who was obviously harming everyone's quality of life. Period. If that disgusts you well ... what can I say .. I guess we just see things differently.
