Emile has gotten very clever in the year and a half or so since I've been reading him, everything is carefully couched now in holier-than-thou Christian Fundamentalist codewords. But I know what he is, and I can't imagine that any but morons are swayed by that garbage. Let him rant, I figure - my primary and imho all-important reason being the principle of Free Speech, but there are other reasons as well. The early posts on Tastes' thread there bring up many other good points. I think it's true that 'The Truth shall make us free' - but only if we allow it unrestricted access, and that means wading through huge piles of garbage that come along with it. I find SI's format very helpful in the filtering, since it allows Peoplemarking as well as Threadmarking.
