LU is no doubt among the elite. Guess which stocks will rebound first when the market takes off?? LU, CSCO, MSFT, INTC, DELL, etc. Of course the risk is that a lot of these elite are still overvalued and vulnerable if the market "corrects" further. But like others have stated on this thread, the downside risk for LU is much less than for the other bandwagon favorites.

There will always be risk.... the choices for me are, 1) invest in high quality co's, 2). pay off debt if any, 3) If the world really falls into an absolute deflationary scenario... get on the soup line first (that is assuming there will be one).

As for "overvalued", yes possible, but then again, value is relative, since "value" (at least in terms of the stock market), is what the market will bear (or bull).....

My opinion only.

The Street is cautious in anticipation of a possible (major) acquisition by Lucent come October.

PS: Remember the TLAB and CIEN story?

Ahmed, Lucent recently confirmed to AB that they are okay with this qtr and on that basis Cramer closed out his short and went long. I am starting to worry about mext qtr. I have this uneasy feeling some deals they had lined up in emerging markets may have been postponed. Only my worries, but I am beginning to suspect the picture going forward that they paint maybe less rosy than it has been. Also many companies have hidden operating expenses that they take as part of one time take over charges. This is looked at more closely now, and I honestly believe Lucent may have also been part of this game previously (just like WCOM). I will wait a little longer ... but not too much !!.

Good luck all

Stephen
