MXWL 102% Increase in Net Income Tuesday September 15, 7:15 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release Maxwell Technologies Announces Record Fourth Quarter Sales and Earnings Fourth Quarter Net Income Rises 102 percent on 33 percent Increase in Sales SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1998--Maxwell Technologies Inc. (NMS:MXWL) today announced record sales and earnings for its fiscal 1998 fourth quarter, ended July 31, 1998. Sales for the quarter were $35.7 million, a gain of 33% over sales of $26.9 million in the same period a year ago, resulting in a 102% increase in net income to $2,494,000 from $1,237,000 last year. Diluted earnings per share rose by 56% to $0.28 from $0.18, on 33% more shares.

9/16/98 Watch list: AXP SBH K STB GWT UIS BFO CHF EOG FLC CNG MDD BOW CBE CAG RCL PG G AFCI QWST CMB SGP ASND DGII LU MTON WAK KCS KCS energy...highest option trader today...w/ Dec calls Someone is expecting a windfall of some sorts? I noticed a lot of commodities were very much higher today! PDG Placer Dome another precious metals company with high option trading. NEM Newmont gold has also go been moving. I'm still very nervous about general market breadth....with Greenspan speaking tomorrow things could get shaky? I'm sure the FOMC could save the world by easing 100 basis points.<g> I'm sure some financials will fair well others will not. I would still watch the oils. So I would if I could watch very closely how WS reacts to AG....I'll be sure to have $COMPQ $INDU alerts set for my pager.
