We must keep these forecasts in perspective, the same idiot predicted >20% growth a year ago. If he can keep up last years track record we should see the industry pretty healthy in 6 months. We need a new must have application that will generate chip demand outside of the PC arena. Everything we use these days has chips in it so AMAT will make profits again, if things are going to be flat and 2.4B is all the sales there will be more cutbacks to get the company profitable. If high tech jobs start leaving the US we will be left with a service economy only, I hope that doesn't happen very soon. If we have to rely on Japan for innovation things are going to move slowly. I hope Intel buys 3COM and starts giving Cisco some competition and speeds up developement of applications useful to the individual public. Intel needs to speed up the internet so everybody will buy faster PC's at higher cost and profit. Business sucks is right.
