<<In Oklahoma, a deceased housewife Jacquelyn Ledgerwood won almost a quarter of the vote in a Democratic senatorial runoff for the right to face Republican Sen. Don Nickles.

Ledgerwood died six weeks before the August primary but too late to be taken off the ballot and still made the runoff against businessman Don Carroll. In Tuesday's vote, she polled nearly 39,000 votes, providing a macabre commentary on the state of the Democratic Party.

Nickles is seen as virtually certain to win in November.>>
