Esteban:

My thoughts precisely, although I never could have articulated them as well as you have.

I recently opened an MBLite account at MBTrading (no Level II) and so far I don't see much advantage on the execution side, particularly NYSE where fully 50% of my trades occur. But I haven't had enough experience over there to say that with any confidence - plus no Level II.

I also get a lot of price improvement at Datek on marketable limit NYSE orders, but never, never at Schwab.

Esteban
Did you notice that more and more often spread on NYSE listed securities displayed by Datek is huge. On Friday for example at least five times Datek shows spread for Sears (S) =1/2 more then 1% of stock price? Same for other high volume stocks- S, GE, LU?

Esteban,

Interesting post.

I've seriously been thinking of dumping NASDAQ and making my day trading only NYSE.
