Clinton has fallen, from medium-low height, in my eyes, not because he had extramarital sex, not because he had it with "a subordinate" in these circumstances (although the foolishness is incredible), but because he lied. He showed an immense fear of being brought out on this, because of his anxiety over the American public's puritan bent. He's able to grab the opportunity, damn decorum, to tell the leader of the Red Chinese we have serious differences, and lessen that leaders PR wash; but he can't say "No comment". He was terrified, like a kid doing something bad. (Been there, uhm, myself.) (And there's no excuse.) I think bringing the Jones case while in office was another mistake. I support independent prosecutors. I think releasing this report was probably wrong, but I don't know what else you can do. File charges, actually. File charges or shut up. The other subjects, filegate, travelgate, Hillary's money, campaign financing, et al ~ I think they should be pursued, and assume they are. Wouldn't be surprised if Bill's more willing to talk about them, than sex. I think if a Pres perjures himself, out he goes. All Reagan had to do, was "forget". Same thing as lying; I think he was lying. Iran Contra was a big deal. Very big. Bigger than all of this put together. The Bay of Pigs. Nixon ordering American soldiers into Cambodia. Clinton has always appeared to me as a manipulator, (that being good and bad), and now he's a jerk, and we don't need an impeachment to know it. It will be nice when it's over and we can talk about trivial or new things again. There's nothing positive about it. If he resigns, we have a constitutional or precedent or political mess; if he doesn't, we have hell. Thanks, Bill.
