Dan, let me ask a theoritical Question: What if one had a limit order in to sell (or buy) at, say, 17, and the bid/ask jumped OVER that without landing on it ?? I have read from others that this CAN happen. Also, i understand 'limit' orders, but i didn't understand my choices when they were 'limit', 'stop' and 'stop limit' when it comes to selling a stock at a price above what you want to sell it for. so if i had 2,500 shares of a stock, and it is currently $2.00/share, I can put a simple 'sell limit' on at say $5.00/share, and how is this different than a 'stop' or 'stop limit', or is a stop order for when you want to sell LOWER than what the current price is ? I am learning this stuff......
