"Shogo: Mobile Armor" has gone gold and will be shipping within a week.

"Shogo" is based on a new and exciting 3D engine called "Lithtech" which, among other things, scales the amount of detail that is generated depending on distance, CPU speed, and other factors. The engine is very exciting stuff.

The game is kind of like a battle between large, mechanized warriors with a Japanese look and feel. Lots of levels and detail should make this a fun one.

BTW, this game was originally being developed for Microsoft to publish, but a licensing squabble erupted when it because clear how good the 3D engine was going to be. Eventually, the developers were able to escape MSFT's grasp and (after some rewriting) has now gotten their game published.

See bluesnews.com for more details.

On the downside, the Multiplayer aspects of this game are a big question mark. Hopefully, it won't turn into another "Unreal" in this regard.

Feinstein has his head fully planted in his keester,

This guy says Voodoo3 would have saved the day instead of Banshee. Another Voodoo3 type product would just put us through another feast or famine retail cycle. In addition, 3dfx has been working on the two product lines in parallel. The dude's technical knowledge seems about on par with his financial knowledge. Extremely limited.
