<. That brings me to a question. Why do so many technology companies locate in Seattle?> I guess it's the climate! Maybe all the grey & rainy days leads to higher productivity. More seriously, it's partly due to the "quality of life" factor and due to the early influence of Boeing, Tektronix, Fluke and other technology companies. The business climate has been generally favorable. Also the kinda quirky, off-beat can-do attitude that allows "far-out" entrepreneurs to flourish a bit more easily than in some other places. Part of the success of the area is because many companies who grew weary of the congestion and competition in the silicon bay area looked for other places on the west coast to re-locate or put additional facilities. On the bio-tech and medical instrument side of things, we have the influence of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, & the U.W. Medical Center which helped to spawn and attract several successful medical technology companies. Adding that all together and you get a magnate area for new ventures.
