<<Here's a link indicating that E Machines out of Korea will have iMac knockoff by fall selling for $599 with Celeron 333 Mhz, AMD or Cyrix chip.>>

This kind of dumb crap is what is going to sink the whole PC industry.
These guys will be selling these things for basically 0 margin; cutting costs (and corners) everywhere just to undercut their rivals in price.

If consumers fail to understand the difference between the real thing and a cheap, low-quality knock-off, small companies like this "E-Machines" are going to bring the whole industry (including Dell, CPQ, and GTW) down to the level of commoditization.

Worry about AAPL all you want, but I'd be interested to see what happens to that Dell PE ratio when the computer market commoditizes.

"The new machines are expected to be available first quarter of 1998" ???

They must not have been selling too well since the iMac has swept the sales!
