This Baltimore Sun article seems to make it clear that this company is in dire trouble. Anyone who has fantasies of the stock doubling or tripling in the next year should think much harder about this. Its clear from the SEC filing that CIEN is simply not prepared to market a cost effective product against the big boys. Its also clear to me that the next step by the board will be to get rid of Nettles. This will clear the way for a quick sale of the company (yes, at bargain basement prices), to a larger player with the marketing and sales resources to go up against LU, Pirelli, NT, etc. CSCO would seem the likely candidate, and its my prediction the price will not make many of us very happy.
