I think you were in error when you said this regarding the release of the Starr report:

I strongly disagree that the OFFICE of the President has been humbled. Besmirched by tawdry and inappropriate behavior within it yes, but I believe the consensus of all peoples is that this OFFICE is supposed to represent the pinnacle of values like honor, truth, decency, loyalty, dedication, virtue, morality and the like.

It is the recognition of an embarrassing and removable corruption within this office that has the whole world gossiping about this topic.

This is like the 90s version of flag burning and will not be dismissed away with rationalizations of "only sex" or "privacy issues" or somebody's optimistic poll ratings. The OFFICE of the President is unimpeachably public and a sacred shrine to freedom and must be cleansed.
