Look at the ASICs in this baby - bet you if it's done in FPGA, then real std cell will make it that much faster. Probably it's std cells already.

sub 0.25um is upon us. Anything bigger won't have enough speed, yield due to too large die size, too much power etc. etc. 'Overcapacity' as in 0.35um fabs will not matter much in another 6 months. Those 0.35um wafers just can't make the products, regardless how much what the wafer cost is. And sub-0.25um will be a huge under capacity 'cause those 0.35um guys didn't make enough money to re-invest to sub-0.25um.

Put it in another way - it's a winner-take-all poker game. Those who lost the last hand, as in 0.35um, will not go onto the next game, sub-0.25um.

PS, same thing as trying to make PC100 or Rambus 64M DRAMs in 0.35um. Doesn't matter how low a price you are willing to take on your DRAMs, it's simply tough to make the speed.

The most one can say is that I am violating my own disciplined investment strategy when I choose to buy LSI. To say anything else would be more than a tad stupid.
