Sure I can remember a lot of things that the Senate has done. For one, the Watergate hearings were known for bi-partisan concensus guided by the tough, but fairminded Sam Ervin. On the flip side, one of the true farces of our history was the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. It is common knowledge today that Johnson's impeachment was a travesty of justice executed by a bunch of corrupt, partisan Congressmen. That's the sort of judgment that Trent Lott does not want to be remembered for.
