Maybe so but I have seen this kind of thing before. Look at APM, once a $75 stock. When the bad news hit the drop was rapid and painful. It settled in around $11 and then drifted down to where it is now under $5. The APM thread is still very active but they don't even talk about the stock anymore except to make jokes. The company is still viable and will eventually come back and yes they are in worse shape than Ciena (they are loosing money) but my point is that buyers are going to avoid Ciena like the plague for a long time while holders drift away as prospects for a buyout diminish.
