DragonBoy - Re: "is this mean the user will have richer experience with Katmai, not 3D now?"

Software that is explicitly written for the Katmai CPU will have much better graphics and visual/audio performance than a K6-2 when running software explicitly written with 3D NOW primitives.

However, the inherent speed of the new Katmai CPUs, 450 and 500 MHz, will indeed boost standard software performance well beyond the K6-2.

The L2 cache will be running at 225 to 250 MHz for the Katmai, which is 2.25 to 2.5x the L2 cache speed of the K6-2. AMD will have to burp up their K6-3 to remain competitive.
