Salon knows that it is more effective if it poses as an objective site. Time and Newsweek have their token conservatives; heck, Clinton hired Dick Morris! If someone--and I'm not saying you--actually believed that publishing an avowed conservative's column means that a publication isn't clearly in Clinton's corner then either: a) They are naive and have little understanding of the inner workings of the press. b) Or they are crazed leftwing conspiracy theorists waiting nervously out in the Planned Parenthood Clinic--cans of pepper spray and copies of Our Bodies Our Selves in hand--for the right wing white hooded hordes from the boondocks to rise up.
