McMannis - Re: " the Celeron A currently remains the best bang for
the buck, but the K6-2 is still a strong player! "

Many consumers are, as you know, realizing this.

Thanks for taking the time to point it out.

Paul

Jim:

When is it you were expecting the K6-2 at 400 Mhz?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jimmy,
Re -- K6-350...

What do you think will happen if AMD does not report 20mil or less of losses this Q.

For you jimmy, I'll spell out some facts you should think deeply about.
1. AMD produced 1.2M on the .25u last Q, will they be able to ramp production 200% on the .25u in a Q.
2. Had problems with Speed paths on the K6-333 and had limited production of this.
3. IBM gets the chips at cost and Compaq does not sell K6-2 systems.
4. AMD reported a loss of .45c last Q. Turning it around by 100% in a Q is very very difficult.
5. Motorola just reported weakness in semi industry (NO COPPER by next year), and others Cyrix/NSM, LSI , AMAT etc.. all reported weakness in their NON PROCESSOR business.

So think about these things deeply Jimmy. I am sure you WONT.

Jim,

Re: "As you can see, the Celeron A currently remains the best bang for
the buck ..."

I agree with you, Jim ... And ... With Intel's process superiority and upcoming
500mhz CPU releases, it will be very difficult if not impossible for AMD
to make a "profit".

Make It So,
Yousef

Hi, Jim, re:<http://www.processor.org/news.htm#1 benchmarks at 450 MHz

Clock...Bus....MySimulation....Processor.org
450 112.5 30.88 31.0
450 100 29.62 29.1

Maybe the PCI bus overclocking contributes more than I used in my
simulation. (I only had one configuration to judge PCI bus
overclocking with.) Both numbers appear a little high considering that
his hardware is no match for the stuff used at the CPU Shootout. But
the memory settings and WIN98 (or was in 95) configuration may be
tweaked and he may be using better MVP3 busmaster drivers from Epox.
