Same do I, in the less liquider stocks with room to split the spread its the only possibility to sell in. As far as I know, the only rule is that you cannot split by 1/32 for stocks > 10.

For the $5 pennies 1/32 works as well. You can even make an uptick by bidding up and immediately hit it with a lower limit bigger size, I managed once in MCHM when market was dull at 7, and it costs only an extra $10. This works if you have no position,but if you are long in the stock before your trade is split up in a sell and a subsequent short sell incurring 2x comissions and then the short sell may fail.
