Z. and Victor, Fine commentary. To confirm one element in Z's last...

NorthAm/LatAM trade has indeed hurt the Tigers. I read a lengthy yowling on that exact topic late last year in a Singapore report. The numbers surprised me. The damage has been quite extensive. And, hence, we find East Asian nations advancing trade with the LatAm's. The greater portion of that trade departing S.A. is unfortunately commodities-based.

One thing more: I've been pounding on this ever since the onset of the crisis in Thailand, but won't shy from slamming it around gain. Rubin's strong USD policy is a crippler. For goodness sake, the Journal of Commerce reported two weeks ago on the deviation of U.S. imports through Canada and Mexico in order to mask/mitigate the effects of what is already an enormous trade imbalance. I wonder what the genuine numbers look like?

Thanks again for the commentaries on Japan.
