Well, the company is going to fight the suit. Shareholders getting involved with even more lawyers is probably a big waste of time and $$$. If you take a look at some of the individual cases on this page, you'll see these cases take years to make their way through the courts.
securities.stanford.edu By the time Cymer has filed its fifth or sixth motion, the semiconductor industry will have turned the corner and we can all have a hearty laugh about the suits filed way back in '98.

RE: "Having never been through a class action, I am wondering if I would just perpetuate the slime or if I am passing up $$$ that will inevitably go to someone that I could use to buy more."

I've been through a couple and, although the details escape me without going back over my records, I believe that the court and attorney costs are high enough and the settlement low enough that the shareholders get only pennies per share.

Best wishes,

I2

Edward, typically, all these suits are consolidated and unless you seek to be excluded from the class (because, typically, you want to sue on your own, which I doubt), you are automatically in the class. Once the judge consolidates all the action suits (and all these law firms are now vying to be the lead attorney, and that is why you see that rush of announcements), you will get through your broker a notification (where you'll typically be informed that unless you exclude yourself from the class you are in the class and agree to get proportionately what each class member gets).

You may want to inform your broker to keep his eye open, but typically, you'll get the paperwork in the mail in few months.

My experience, like many others, if they win, you'll get less 5% of whta your loss has been (over the alleged period).
