Thanks for your example. Your example is not a typical one since most experienced put sellers are selling puts on a monthly basis.

Fair enough. The person I was responding to was making reference to "long term" and had specified ORCL and a $20 trigger price, so I chose my example to try to match that. (Sept and Oct $20s weren't trading today.)

I'm guessing the DELL 55s were at or in the money when you sold them? That may be a little different, if you're counting on a stock price rise rather than the forces of expiration to generate your profit.

Still, I'd hardly have characterized it as reliable income.
