You're right. The comparison to Afci, however, is much more apt than the one to APM. Much more. Leading, path breaking but narrow technology product. Poor marketing. Way too concentrated a customer base. Much bigger competitors that are catching up fast. And whom the next level customer would rather do business with for a host of reasons, such as service, staying power, assurance of add on technology. And are even willing to wait a while for.

It was incredibly stupid of Cien management to not accept a significantly lower than .8 exchange ratio with Tlab. They are to be scorned. Their leadership is suspect. If LU comes on strong the very survival of the company is in question. They better merge with some deep pockets telecom connected company fast. At probably a worse deal than the last one that Tlab had on the table, and that has not been disclosed.

Doug
