David, even if you are short and buy puts it is not fun watching a market tank 2-300 points. This was the one 'bear' market I made money in. The last one in October '97 was not much fun and I lost a lot of money. I am not an optimistic or a pessimist.. I just take one day at a time. I do think, however, that stocks will be more fun to trade in the next 6-8 weeks because valuations are more realistic.. Good earners will be rewarded handsomely. DIS, G, GE, CCI,MER so many of them coming down ... so many stocks, so little time.

Dave,

Thing are reasonably good now....BUT...We are definitely at the beginning a bear market....valuations will become paramount to successful investing....I'm looking for an extended period of difficulty into next year with the crunch coming then. so I will be looking into shorting the internets and buying oils and individual techs etc. It's ridiculous watching excess capital flows into stocks like AMZN/YHOO....it kinda makes me think of investors running over to Russia a few years back.<g>
