I've seen worse than what you describe, BTW.
Hell, Lucent has probably taken the whole thing apart and gone for a reverse engineering job on the code as well. CIEN should be alert for product piracy evidence if you ask me.

Relative to sabatoge, I've seen worse than that. I've seen things like *welded down* limit switches get broken off. When I tested these welds informally to see what it took to break them, I had to use a lot of muscle and a minumum of a 10 pound sledgehammer.

But - we made good on them. I upped the specs until they could get hit by a millwright with a 20 pound sledge multiple times. And the "customer" finally paid up.
