Percent of stocks above moving averages

10-day 21-day 50-day 200-day
8/31 low 2.7% 3.7% 3.1% 10.3%
9/16 67.5% 40.6% 15.8% 16.8%

There was 6% point jump in stocks crossing the 21-day mov avg today.
About 25% of stocks are within 1-5% below the 21-day moving average
as of today.

An interesting area has been the 20 oil and gas drilling stocks;
percent of stocks above moving averages below:

10-day 21-day 50-day 200-day
8/31 low 0% 0% 0% 0%
9/16 100% 100% 35% 0%

The scary thing about oil drillers and oilfield services stocks has
been that all of the ones I checked this week had earnings revisions
down this week.

Finally, the advance-decline for the market below:

5-day 21-day 63-day 260-day
8/31 low 3.0% 4.7% 9.2% 28.7%
9/16 61.5% 19.6% 15.7% 30.6%
