Clinton's Grand Jury Video Will Be Available on @Home Network When Congress Votes to Release Tapes

@Home Network (Nasdaq: ATHM - news), the leader in high-speed Internet services via the cable infrastructure, today announced that it intends to make President Clinton's grand jury testimony video available over its network should Congress vote to make the testimony public record. With the benefit of an Internet connection that is always on, @Home is the only service provider that can offer its customers near instantaneous access to these video clips on demand at speeds hundreds of times faster than traditional dial-up services.

If the report is made public, @Home will break the 4 hours of testimony into components that will be easier for users to view at their leisure. The ''testimony-on-demand'' will only be available to @Home's subscriber base.

Last week, @Home users were some of the first people in the US who were able to read the Starr Report instantaneously without having to go through the clogged sites that posted the report or go through the congested dial-up networks. The release of the video on @Home will be yet another step in proving that the Internet is rapidly becoming a powerful news distribution mechanism at both the grassroots and national levels.

''The Lewinsky case, however unfortunate the scandal may be, marks the emergence of the Internet as a mainstream medium in the nation's political and public discourse,'' said Richard Gingras, editor-in-chief and vice president of programming for @Home Network. ''However, hearing and showing audio and video present major challenges to traditional dial-up networks and ISP's since they play so slowly over 28.8 modems. @Home doesn't have these bandwidth challenges and can make this video available to its customers on demand.'' <<
