AGC Americas Gold Corp. Announces Drilling Confirms Gold Porphyry System
VANCOUVER, Sept. 17 /CNW-PRN/ - AGC Americas Gold Corporation (AGA.V & AGCFF-BB) (the ''Company'') announces the completion of the 1998 exploration program in the Toodoggone District in north-central British Columbia, which included an eleven-hole diamond drilling program. The drilling program was designed to test the extension of the Creek Zone and the newly discovered Orest Zone. These zones are interpreted to be porphyry related and occur within a broad alteration envelope. The observed style of mineralization is significantly different from the epithermal gold mineralization previously found in the Toodoggone. The significant results from both phases of the 1998 drilling program are as follows:

HOLE INTERVAL(m) WIDTH(m) GRADE(g/t) ZONE

CZ-98-09 49.00-50.80 1.80 1.12 Creek
62.20-63.50 1.30 1.90 Creek
83.70-90.60 6.90 3.22 Creek
93.00-94.60 1.60 1.43 Creek

CZ-98-10 31.85- 41.36 9.51 1.41 Creek
64.13-74.19 10.06 0.78 Creek
95.28-96.38 1.10 1.62 Creek
103.42-108.39 4.97 1.77 Creek

CZ-98-11 41.00-46.00 5.00 1.46 Creek

CZ-98-12 54.50-57.00 2.50 1.35 Creek

CZ-98-14 40.50-43.75 3.25 14.88
87.00-96.00 9.00 1.41 Creek

CZ-98-15 37.34-44.93 7.59 1.21 Creek
49.41-50.20 0.79 9.07 Creek
64.16-65.84 1.68 1.29 Creek
67.97-69.19 1.22 1.27 Creek
96.47-97.84 1.37 1.31 Creek
99.67-102.17 2.50 1.77 Creek

CZ-98-16 213.00-218.00 5.00 2.40 Orest
223.00-225.00 2.00 2.10 Orest
226.00-228.00 2.00 1.47 Orest
230.00-231.00 1.00 1.09 Orest

CZ-98-17 95.00-97.50 2.50 1.23 Orest

135.70-139.70 4.00 1.70 Orest

CZ-98-18 168.00-169.00 1.00 2.40 Orest
187.30-188.30 1.00 1.05 Orest
192.90-194.10 1.20 1.35 Orest
207.00-210.00 3.00 1.17 Orest

CZ-98-19 152.75-153.75 1.00 1.17 Orest

226.40-230.40 4.00 4.48 Creek
Including 226.40-227.40 1.00 14.80 Creek
244.40-245.40 1.00 1.68 Creek

While these results demonstrate the existence of widespread gold mineralization within the two porphyry-related zones, the continuity and grade are insufficient to outline a bulk tonnage situation. Both zones are open towards the south and to depth. Further exploration may establish better grade and widths for these zones.

The AGC/Antares Joint Venture intends to complete a compilation of all available geological and other technical data relating to its Toodoggone properties prior to the start of the 1999 field season. The purpose of this exercise will be to identify and prioritise for future exploration the numerous anomalies as yet untested. Notwithstanding this joint undertaking, the operatorship of the Joint Venture reverts again to Antares Mining & Exploration Corporation. As such, AGC does not currently anticipate incurring further significant exploration expenditures on its Toodoggone properties until the terms of the Antares agreement have been fulfilled.

The Company will also continue to pursue the acquisition of additional projects in order to diversify its mineral holdings. To this end, over the past weeks AGC has actively reviewed project submissions from Chile, Peru, the western United States and B.C. The company's bias is towards a project located in the south-west United States or Latin America, since the exploration season in these areas complements that of the Toodoggone.
