Skeeter Bug, I think the problems we are experiencing worldwide stem from the exposure (thanks to communication advances) of corruption in governments that only pay lip service to being friends of capitalism. Lowering rates, raising rates, replenishing IMF coffers ala Soros, etc are all fixes that do not address root problem of nepotism (Indonesia) or thuggery (Russia) or corrupt bureaucrats (Japan). I'd rather have my money in US at a negative rate of return than being devalued to hell and gone. Rubin and Greenspan can't change attitudes in Russia, it's like pissing in the wind.
