Well I'm not really sure but I don't think there are that many plasmapheresis machines out there. The only places I've heard of that give plasmapheresis down here are big regional major medical centers hours away.

Found this info on the prosorba column. Thought it was a good explanation..... PROSORBA COLUMN On September 16 Cypress Bioscience, Inc. announced that an FDA advisory panel had recommended approval of its Prosorba column for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The Prosorba column is not a drug or a medication: it is a plastic cylinder that contains highly purified Protein A immobilized on a silica matrix. Protein A binds to antibodies which contribute to inflammation. Blood is drawn from a patient's arm and passed through a plasmopheresis machine, which separates the blood cells from the blood plasma. The plasma then passes through the Prosorba column, where certain antibodies are removed and additional immunomodulatory effects occur. Then the blood is returned to the patient's other arm. The procedure takes about two and a half hours and is performed once a week for twelve weeks. In clinical trials, about half of patients showed significant improvement after treatment; the ones who did improve maintained the improvement up to 40 weeks after treatment.
