Sam,
I think Zen Buddhism is an organized religion that promotes the seeking of truth with an open mind. The Unitarians and the Quakers are 2 other organizations that I'm familiar with that do the same, at least for some of their congregations. I think it is helpful for people to be in contact with like minded individuals when pursuing spiritual endeavors, and I have benefited a lot from my association with my local Zen Center.
