House Judiciary Committee Chairman Henry Hyde and a woman identified as Cherie Snodgrass at a Chicago nightspot in the late 1960s. The photograph appeared in Salon magazine. MSNBC STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS Sept. 16 - Rep. Henry Hyde, the Republican chair of the committee that will recommend whether or not the House holds impeachment hearings for President Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky case, had an illicit affair of his own in the 1960s that broke up his lover's marriage, it was reported Wednesday. My feeling is that Henry Hyde's thick skin will thin out and become abraded to the extent that he might have to quit as the chairman of the committee. Or at least he will be so accommodating that Clinton will go free. He, in his condition and with a past history like that, has no right to question the morality of Clinton. JPR
