Hi Stitch,

Regarding the IBM/RDRT GMR demos, is RDRT's current GMR technology an evolution of the development work done with the GMR heads developed by the folks at the Lawrence Livermore Labs? I recall reading that the Livermore/RDRT collaboration was essentially completed in mid-1996 and RDRT had already shipped some read ONLY GMR heads to some key customers in late 1996 as part of its campaign to convince its potential customers that it had a viable MR/GMR/CMR technology road map. As you recall, this happened during the time when WDC could do no wrong, thin film inductive was still king, Vinik was on his way out at Fidelity's Magellan Fund, and RDRT and APM were locked in a weird and ultimately failed mating dance with Crisman and Cyril meeting in airport hotel rooms.

Thanks, man.

Gus
