Bill, I agree with everything you said. In fact, that was my point in mentioning how they all let us down nowadays. Jeez, you and I both remember a time when we could rely on the packaging to tell us the semi-truth, at least as far as compatibility issues go. And when tech support people knew their area of responsibility. Ha! What a laugh today...

That is why I have long since taken the 'anal' approach to anything computer related, ie, check EVERYTHING out, twice, before making any major moves or purchases. (Then again, I consider a dollar purchase, major<ggg>) While it certainly takes me additional time, I find the 'aggravation factor' is lessened, by not getting frustrated trying to install the sucker, dealing with returns, waiting for the snotty counter people to check you out as if you were returning a nuclear bomb, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Just my way of doing it. Works for me, that's all I know. I'm aware that most don't wish to be so tight-assed about these things as me, which may be better, but as they say, "different strokes........"

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble with the Viper V330. However, there is a difference between being Windows 98 Compatible and Multimonitor compatible. Microsoft could have done a much better job spelling out the difference.

Bill,

<Windows 98>

Check out the Systems Information Tool in the Accessories pulldown on the START menu. A ton of new, useful tools not in win95.

Also you might like to try Tweak UI in the reskit/tools of the win98 CD.
