re: Noam Chomsky Thanks for the link and the clipping. Very interesting viewpoint. I agree with just about everything described in that description of the major media, which of course could lead to some serious depression on my part. The gist of my other post to you was a question regarding what we should do, and I reiterate it (I know you answered in a previous post) because I think it's very important. If you read the posts on this thread, you will see a steady repetition of information and quotes from the talking head shows and the major newspapers. These really are our only sources of timely information and analysis. If you attempt to have a coherent conversation on the topic, the polarization becomes evident almost immediately. There is very little critical thinking, and almost no logic - it's all emotion. I think that's because we feel powerless to change anything in any meaningful way. The issues are so broad in scope, the momentum is so overwhelming, and our ability to influence people that are so far away is so limited, that, just like the football games from that Chomsky clipping, we take sides as if it were a sporting event - we want our team to win. Our politics have become national and global, with almost no emphasis on local. Very few people even take the time to let their representatives (at any level) know how they feel about an issue. In other words, it's like the weather - everyone talks about it, but no one does anything about it. We all need to take the time to get involved and become one of the 20% included in the decision-maker elite described in that clipping.
