rairden,

<Can someone explain to me again the difference between a trade
being a buy or a sell?>

The Nasdaq has market makers that take the opposite side of your trade and the NYSE has specialists that simply match buyers and sellers. Specialists move the bid/ask around to keep the market orderly. Trades that occur on the NYSE are between the ultimate buyer and seller of the stock. There are no middle men. Some NYSE stocks also trade on the third market and they do have market makers there.

Even though there is no middle man on the NYSE, somebody has to initiate a trade. If a trade occurs at the ask, then a buyer initiated it. If a trade occurs at the bid, then a seller initiated it. Money flow can be calculated by subtracting the volume of trades at the bid from the volume of trades at the ask.

I hope this answered your question. Now maybe you can answer one for me: Why in the he*l is LSI up and VLSI down? LOL

Dan

Actually, I think that LSI looks way oversold, but WDIK. I'm in at 19 1/2.
