I'm happy to see we're holding up here. If we were above 26, I'd really be heartened. However, I wonder is it the right time to purchase AMAT? It tends to firm prior to earnings...is this happening now?
There is NO WAY one can be a value investor and hold the CANSLIM philosophy in mind at the same time. On one hand the market is telling me "now is not the time", on the other hand, I think the risk/reward here (for long termers) make this sector a strong buy.
Watching AMAT leaps here still (Jan 2001 30's & 40's); just want to time the damned thing right. FWIW, I did buy some KLAC last week at 22ish. Couldn't help myself...

Ramsey,

It's actually a lot more positive then it looks. Most of the semi-equip stocks opened lower and have bounced back pretty quickly. I have noticed this over the last few days (some strength in the sector in the face of bad news). Jacob may have it right.
