I have a theory that bickering on this thread correlates to market bottoms. With bickering at a year long high this tells me we are at or near a bottom in this correction. So buy now while the stock is cheap. :-)

MOT acquires 2nd European facility - another low cost producer

Rich wonder if Virginia's Governor knows about MOT's "immediate" plans to buy a Slavakian semi-conductor plant and "why" :

" A Motorola spokesman said the fabrication plant had
been idle for a number of years and had been acquired
as part of a liquidation sale. The plant once made
semiconductor wafers, but could, with some upgrading,
be converted to other purposes,
he said.

"We haven't decided what we're going to manufacture,"
he said.

Motorola was motivated to acquire the facility by the
success it achieved in a joint venture with another Tesla
plant, at Roznov in the Czech Republic.

"We have had great success with our operation in
Roznov," the spokesman said. "A good, well-educated work force has made that very cost-effective. We are looking at this plant in the same way."

The way these guys mislead politicians makes me THINK there is an Intel inside their conscienceless brain .

But then again he is a Governor, and a politician, so its OK to mislead him .

Rich, your speculation is probably right about Apple ultimately only having one PPC source, but I wonder where AltiVec fits into all this. In any case, it seems that MOT is heading away from Apple and towards embedded processors.

I've just made my first trading buy of AAPL since the iMac launch. $35-$36 looks like a bottom and the stock seems to want to gravitate towards $38. Volume is low on these down days. Earnings look to be good. For every bad report we've got at least an equally good bit of news. However, it's still a long time to the earnings report. In this market every day seems to take forever. For conservative reasons, plus the fact that I got really nailed in the small cap meltdown in late August, I'm taking much smaller positions this time around.

In at $36 1/4, looking to buy more tomorrow, plan on selling in the low forties next month.

Best,
Marc
