Ahhh, whatacar, whatacar.

Speedometer? No va.
Temperature gauge? No va.
Fuel gauge? No va.

On the last, you just sort of tried to remember when the last time was you had put gas in it, and how far you'd driven since then. Becomes second nature after awhile.

The heater always worked, even turned off. In the Houston summertime.

If I hit a bump in the road at approximately 35 mph (no more, no less), a sympathetic vibration would start, and the car would shake crazily until I pulled off the road and got the car down to about 10 mph.

I used to have to borrow my roommate's car to go out on dates.

I was in Germany in '70, VW bugs everywhere. On the Autobahn if one was doing 64 and another could do 64 1/2 there was a race on. Of course a Mercedes doing 150 would come up behind and flash his lights to pass and no one would give. Made for some spectacular wrecks.
