To Doug: Planned to get back to the Q, but suggest that the reason that Asia is resentful of IMF "help" is that IMF insisted on stupid policies there. As it has historically re Latin America (and Russia). Maximum pain in minimum possible time. Completely absurd politically. OK if the idea is to destroy the gov't - as happened in Korea and Indonesia but not the greatest in a place like Brazil where the elections are about the happen with the guy in a white hat as a potential winner. Ah well, hope you are indeed right that the IMF will help not hurt in Brazil. But it would be a sea change in IMF policy. Just IMO of course. Now back to the Q. :-) Chaz
