<<Yes I would like to know what constitutes a white lie in business>>

I think intent is the governing issue. If you understate the expected costs during a business dealing with the intent to "steal" the customer, IMHO you have done me wrong. If it was an honest mistake, no problem. If you consistently underestimate your costs and your competition doesn't, you will eventually lose out, because potential clients will know your reputation for lying, and will appreciate the honest dealings by your competition. Reputation is very important in the business world, where much of your business comes from word-of-mouth referrals.

At any rate, businesses don't have morals, only people do. Don't you always try to do the right thing? You may miss once in a while, but you don't go out there with the intention of profiting at any cost (I hope). The ends do not justify the means.
