Mr. $tarpopper

I did not say that LU was not "interested" in CS, I said that LU will not "buy" CS. I think another entity beat them to the punch.

I believe this greatly anticipated buyout (hopefully) has been in the works for some time. One thing of interest, currently, is that most people are focused on LU's ability to buy other companies once 10/2/98 hits, but folks should focus on the fact that there is even greater incentive for OTHER companies, that are watching LU's success, to be at least as aggressive as LU in order to compete (sorry for the run-on sentence).

Regardless of all the earnings warnings (Alcatel), this sector is going to get very exciting over the next few months.

Congratulations on the recent success with the arbitrage play, but the even better play is with the bigger boys and girls in this sector. LU stock is down as much on the rumors of pooling transactions (DILUTION) as anything else.

Good Luck with the investments. By the way, today's warning by Alcatel is good news for MRVC. It takes some of the heat off all the rumors about Noam and Co. fudging the #s while lending credibility to their story of softening demand in Europe.

Thanks,

Teflon
