>If the public has a right to know, in excruciating detail, about Clinton's sexual life, then surely it has an equal right to know about the private life of [Hyde]<

Firstly, the public has no such right to Hyde's life because unlike Clinton, Hyde was accused of a crime, has not lied to the American judicial system, and lied repeatedly etc. etc., as has Clinton.

Secondly, if Hyde has not on a personal moral platform publicly criticized anyone else, then I do not see why anyone can think themselves free to attack him on the basis of the Clinton circumstances.

No one said the public had a right to know about Clinton's sex life in excruciating detail. He made it an issue by virtue of his silly denials. Hyde's personal sex life is not an issue. He admitted his indiscretion. He made his peace with his wife. By all accounts his life has been exemplary for over thirty years. JLA
