J_b,

Just one point about whether or not the President can lead in foreign affairs. It's been my observation that most countries lag far behind the U.S. pertaining to the sex lives of their leaders & their expectations of morality in that regard. It's sad but true that many foreign heads of state in all probability respect Pres. Clinton more as a man(unfortunately, women's rights have not yet fully developed in many parts of the globe)since his sexual piccadilloes have been exposed.

I completely disagree with them and feel his use of Monica for his own selfish purposes was despicable, but I doubt that foreign affairs will suffer because of our domestic mess.

The American people are caught between a "rock & a hard place"(just know some clown will give that term his own spin:o).

1) they're outraged that the person they elected to the highest office in our nation has brought shame upon it.

2) BUT in the past they've elected men of high moral integrity to that same office and then suffered the effects of rampant inflation, higher taxes & unemployment when those same men were not effective enough to strike the delicate balance needed to keep those scourges at bay. Evidently, the majority of subscribers at SI belong to the 1% of Americans who own 40% of the assets in the country, therefore they can't identify with the fears of those who have far less.

IMO, strong punishment in the form of censure will teach Pres. Clinton that the only way to improve his future image in the History books is to make the last 2 yrs of his Adm. nothing less than spectacular. No-one ever questioned his people skills.....I believe he's capable of actually proving to us & the world that it's possible to "learn" from your mistakes and move on to great accomplishments.
