A merger with TDFX sounds interesting, but I don't think it will happen. From TDFX perspective, there is a glut of fab capacity out there. Having your own fab would improve time to market, but because of the glut, foundries will probably go out of their way to accomodate customers.

I guess the plan is for MXi and the new LAN chips to fill the unused capacity.

PS: did anyone noticed rumors of INTC - 3COM merger? This would shut NSM out of large portion of LAN market. But I don't think the merger would be approved anyway.
