Jenna, no one can time the top of the market or of a particular stock. So long as the net bottom line of one's portfolio is positive, that is what matters. Just make money and not lose it. Only perfectionists strive for optimality and it's a futile effort for most.

NKE.. here ya go up 4 just like I thought. A 'reverse' earnings play, meaning even though it was obvious earnings would be way less than last quarter, any sign of beating the 'low' estimate would affect the stock positively. In this new market climate we will have to continue to follow those kind of stocks, since their low price already reflects the low earnings. If you'll remember about a week ago I posted an opinion that the pre-earnings shortfall scalped the stock and the actual report might actually bring it up.
